Default BRB / Houdini ; same thing?

Ok, know I'm over paranoid and as far as I'm concerned have secured all possible escape routes but......?

This is the second time in an hour that I have found me BRB pushing at the lid of the tank or hiding on the lip.

As mentioned before this is only a tempary measure until I get a new viv but are these snake renowned for their escapology degrees?

as long as everything is down tightly you should be fine.

You know when you doubt how tight it is???

It is currently housed in an old turlte tank and although this is only for a couple of days am worried about handling the snake from above, which it appears to have no issue with. The thing is these kinda tanks are built for animals that won't climb, hence I have secured meaningless holes with electrical tape as this is the least adheasive and thus least damaging tape to a snake. It has not yet tried to escape but has been found twice now sitting round the the lip of the tank.

Touch wood it hasn't yet tried to push through the tape but what are the chances it will?

it might try n push but as its only temp then u should have no probs, if in doubt place a heavy item on top of the viv.

Right now it has a heavy throw on top as the roof is rounded I thought this would give the best overrall weight coverridge, All air holes are still oprn but these are without a doubt too small to get through

My BRB escaped once and i still don't quite know how it managed it!... The air holes i thought were far too small for her to fit through. Noticed she sometimes wedged herself between the lip of the tub and the lid and then tensed trying to force the lid up. Its a pretty secure clip lid but its now taped down. seems to have worked.......so far lol

When my partner returned home at 4 this morning I thought I would go and check on the little dude and HORROR!!! it was gone, I spent the next 2 hours pulling the house apart to find it and then finally resigned myself to the fact he was gone or that one of the dogs would have got to him.

This morning I got up to search the garden incase one of the dogs had taken it out there, when I walked past his open tank I looked in to see where he would have been had he not escaped and looking back at me was my little BRB he must have had a little adventure and realised the rest of the house was not as warm and cosy as his little part of it.

Lesson learnt, going out now to get a viv.

for the sake of a few quid, get yourself a spare rub (they are useful should you ever need to transport your snake) and they cost less than a tenner

glad you found him ok. They sometimes burrow under the substrate, had you checked? Theres a couple of times i thought mine had escaped but then found them right underneath all the bark substrate. Another time one had somehow managed to get underneath its water bowl.

The time mine escaped i was thinking 'oh Nooooo she could be ANYWHERE!? outside the house or anything!' i had bottle traps out, my housemates helping me search the whole house.................i found her 3 days later about 2 metres from her set-up underneath a set of drawers. Which i had already checked once mind! but when it came to looking the 2nd time she was curled up there quite cosy.

An escape proof viv / RUB is the way forward. Though i heard they can sometimes push out the air vents on vivs so watch for that

This little dude was definately gone , was sifting through the substrate praying to find him in there but nothing.

The tank is on top of a set of wicker drawers that are packed full of all sorts of crap, I had them all out last night and nothing but he cant of been far away as this morning there he was like nothing had gone on, just so glad I left the lid off, think the heat brought him home
