Default ETB export help?

I posted this is general chat too but more people always seem to be on here so.....

Peruvian exports of ETBs. Does anyone know where i can get information on the number exported each year? They aren't listed on the CITES quotas for Peru so does this mean their export is uncontrolled?

Any help would be very much appreciated. Also (i'm sure someone will ask otherwise), no I don't want to import one, this is for a possible research project.

Thanks for reading

I don't think many come out of Peru at all...Peruvian ETB's don't seem to be available over here, anyway. The ETB's that do get exported tend to be "northerns" from Guyana and Suriname.

for Peru they have to be F1 or F2 for export and as far as i know know one has bothered producing any for export, therefore quota=0

Thanks guys, that's really helpful! Couple more questions....

Would I be right in thinking peruvian locality ETBs would be basins? Also (this is a VERY long shot) do you know the relative density/abundance in Peru compared to any other country they occur in? Or know of any literature concerning this? Again, thanks

A useful book for you would be Kivit and Wiseman's "The Green Tree Python and Emerald Tree Boa". One animal per 2.7 km squared is their estimate on population density, but I think that's throughout the whole range, not just Peru.

Thanks essexchondro - I've actually seen that book on amazon already, £60+ is a bit out of my price range though. I'll see if the library has it

If your library dosn't have it ask them to get it in, they will be able to get any book (within reason)

You can always pm me for a signed copy (at least by the Scottish author) ... always send it back to Holland for the other signature. Could be an investment for the future...

cheers

Fraid not Stuart. I am pretty out of touch these days with the happening scene of herpetoculture. However, I am starting to pick up where I left off and thinking about some species I know little about. Just completed a masters that was concerned with the psychology of changing attitudes as a precursor to changing behaviour in relation to snakes. It kinda woke up the desire to be nearer some again...

cheers
Stephen
