I tried the tub method that cupcake.1978 was talking about a few posts back for my CB07 royal python that hasn't eaten since I got it, when I checked back about an hour later, the rat was still there. I took the snake out, and I looked at the rat, and it's head was wet as if the royal had begun to eat, but then decided not to and spat it out again. I felt the heat mat and it felt cold, then I checked the thermostat and set it a little higher and it seems to be working again. So, why would the royal start to eat then decide not to? I'm hoping it's something as simple as temps, but I'm getting more and more worried as the time ticks by and it still hasn't eaten anything! I weighed it as well and it has lost 16 grams in 13 days that I've had it. That seems like a lot. I'll be monitoring it's temps for a few days now, in case it has been a hiccup in the thermostat (which is a habistat mat stat)

the reason it may have started to eat, then stop is because it may have been spooked, it could of been someone walking past, or just vibration felt with people moving around doing every day things,

how long has it been since you royal last fed, read the thread from the beginning, or read the updated thread in the newbie section, all the advice you need is there.

I got her to eat something, a tiny rat pup but it's better than nothing! The tub method seems to work fine with her. I'll try moving up in prey size each time until it's at the proper size for her

Hi, Im hoping some 1 could give me some advice?
At the minute i have 1 male royal, and was thinking about getting him a girly friend , but i would like to keep them in the same viv - how does this affect feeding?
Do you putthem in seperate vivs and feed them seperatly, or leave them? Would they fight if they both went for the same food item?

i personally would keep them seperate and ALWAYS feed snakes seperately

May effect feeding yes.
You want to do it for breeding? If so why dont you just breed but when not mating have there separte tubs?

I have seen royals live ok together, and i have experienced some dont feed when together.

It is down to the royals. Be prepared to separate if one refuses.

I have a breit girl that wouldent eat for 3 months id just leave the mouse in the cage with her (not live) and occasionally she would eat it

ive since learnt learnt that bloods are ambush predators and so have started strike feeding which didnt work to well until i warmed up the mouse and now she strikes in seconds every time

I've been using the tub method with that royal that hasn't strike fed yet and it has been working a treat! I'm really glad someone here suggested it
