basicly, i dont know how to post things on here, but found my cat playing with a tiny grass snake yesterday; already have a cornsnake but i dont have a clue what 2 feed this thing. scared it might be hurt so dont really want to let it out just yet 'cos itll be a shame if it dies. if anyone has any ideas about what to feed it, it would be much appreciated tried live crickets but it doesnt seem interested :/

I heard that taking the snakes water away for a week and then wetting the food will encoage the snake to eat don't know how tru it is though

Dunno if this has been suggested before (probably) or if it's a good idea but it worked for me my royal hadn't eating for aboout 4 weeks when i first got him and i tried all sorts of different methods with no luck, i realised he was weary of me every time i opened the lid of the tank so i tied a long piece of cotton around the tip of the mouses tail and carefully opened the lid enough to dangle the rodent in the tank then stood back out of view and wiggled the cotton a little, sure enough he took it no problem since then hes got used to seening me about and takes food no problem. hope this helps.

I have to add to this thread - our ball pythons hadn't eaten since we bought them home - we have had them just over a month. I know that's not a long time for them to go without food (think it was total of about 6 weeks) but my OH was panicking a little......anyway tried a couple of tricks on here and our male FINALLY fed last night!!! YAY!

Gonna try the female tonight with the same trick (we made it really really dark, gave them smaller food than usual (warmed up) and left it in his hide with overnight without so much as a peek - hey presto!)

Just a thanks for these tips - very useful thank you!

We have 4 corn snakes, all hatchlings. Im a first time snake owner, i did get laods of advice about corn snakes and buy a book plus full viv and everything first before i got the snakes.

back round info, we have a little anthristic girl we have called ivy. she was Hatched in april and has had quite a few feeds. But she wont feed with us, even though her sister will. We have tryed almost all of the tips sugested i think the trouble is shes getting to stressed. We moved back down to a smaller tub and left her 3 days then offerd her food and she has not taken it, the last time she ate was 9 days ago but the breeder came and assisted her. shes been here about 3 weeks now and only had that one meal 9 days ago. Im not overy worryed, its just her sister is so much bigger ans stronger form eating. my question is when should i get really worryed? at what point should i get her to a vet? the breeder said shes fine just stresssed, as a first time snake owner id like adivce form other places.

ty in advance for all the advice

firelass.
