Default hi there snake boi

Hey mate, 9 days isn't too long... U sayin that u have corns and a hognose that won't eat? Have u handled them regulary since? Esp the ones that are the problems? Try and handle them for around 10-15 mins every day for the next week... Then put their food in a sandwich bag and in some very warm water, when the water has gone cold and the food is thawed repeat the process and leave them for 5-10mins. Then put on some kitchen roll and rub dry. Try and keep it so that the food is warm. Then with some tongs offer and shake the food near the snake. If they display interest move it away slightly and let them investigate, makes it more satisfyin for them the sense that they've hunted it down. Also wat size is the snake and wat foods are u offering up? Anyways do this in a few days and if they don't go for it then leave it 1 week or 1.5weeks and repeat the above again. If they do the same, again leave them to it and don't do anything for another week. They should soon learn that if they don't eat they go hungry lol. Also keep up the handling. If a snake is in shed don't feed till afterwards, it's quite stressful for them.

Excellent post think you covered a lot of options. Not heard about the car ride, wonder who found that one out...

i sort did as found when taking a sake to see a friend to try fresh killed food he ate pretty much staright away, i verified this when i started to breed my own food by taking the snake out for a 10 min drive after he refused a fresh killed food item.

[QUOTE=welshgaz;458845]

Braining really isn't anything to get worried about either. Tried it the other week, just used a stanley knife to cut open the head but as its been dead and frozen for a while nothing comes out. I didn't really want to do it but gave it a go.

Sorry - I don't know if I've got this right - the above bit is from welshgaz - this next bit is suggestion from me: If you don't like the idea much (and who does?) wait till food is half defrosted and snip with scissors. No different to cutting up steak or chicken. (Sorry if anyone else has suggested this - haven't read all the thread yet.)

Do NOT leave your snake unattended with a live mouse if you're using this method, then if anything happens you can take the mouse out
