Default Convincing the mother...

Hey, Wondering if you can help me... I'd really like a False Water Cobra, I've been keeping snakes for 2 years and you can see what I have in my sig. I've done quite a bit of research into the care of these snakes and I'm confident that I can care for one properly and safely.

My mum doesn't have a problem with me having another snake, BUT when she heard the word "venom" she said no and is adamant, she wont listen to me so maybe you guys can help?

I've tried to explain that the FWC would literally have to be chewing on you to inject ANY venom, and that its not much, not enough to do any serous harm to people (not that id let it chew on anyone :/)

I'm going to show my mother this thread later, so please be honest

Cheers

Maybe if you do the research yourself, print it off and sit down with her, read out the pros and get the scientific blurb behind you; show you're responsible and mature enough to understand and respect the snake!

Above all though; as crap as it is, you can't really bully her into letting you if no is no.

It's a difficult one. Just having the word cobra in the name of the snake is enough to strike fear into most people. All i can suggest is to hammer home the point that its a colubrid and to remind you mother that you have been a responsible keeper with your collection.

You must also be honest. These snake can give a nasty bite but you must demonstrate to your mother that you have the neccesary skills to avoid getting bitten.

Good luck.

Are you allowed to have a western hognose or a Brazilian smooth snake?
