Its feed night in our house...and Fatman my 5yr old BCI has never ever struck at his food and would only take from a dish left in viv and in a darkened room...well.....i always offer him a strike first and this time he decided to take me up on the offer well i have a smaller younger boa and she doesn't faze me at all striking but this guy WOW he scared the outta me lol he was so fast i didn't see him til he had ripped it outta my hand, i squealed and my kids came running in to see what had happened, they thought my ratsnake, who is a bit grumpy had bit me,lol they fell about laughing when i told em what had gone on!

Strike feeding big boas is fun. My lot always surprise me with how lazy they usually are except round feeding time when they turn into scaley exocet missiles.

oh i'm not that brave to feed by hand...i use a garden cane split at one end and i put the tail into that, the force he hit the rat took the cane clean outta my hand too! it was a tip my local rep shop gave me to save my fingers lol works a treat until you get a biggy snatching off ya!

I get good results with long metal bbq tongs, I also have some smaller wooden ones but normally use the bigger ones for the boas after a couple of near misses.
