Default Multiple mite treatments

<rant> One thing that is missing from the mite treatment thread is a warning that people should use 1 method of treating mites rather than multiple methods.

Treating snakes for mites is stressful enough without doing it three times.

Frontline will kill mites, so will ardap (though never used either myself). Why do people use both? What beneficial effect does exposure to both ardap and frontline have?

Why do people then dip their snakes in oil? What beneficial effect does coating a snake in oil have, in addition to exposing it to ardap and/or frontline?

I'm sure that if people look hard enough they must be able to find a few more. Surely 6 treatments will be better than 3? </rant>

Just had mites.
Soaked snakes in water with some oil. (This should drowned mite that are on the snake).

Spray viv with ardap. this will kill mites in the viv inc eggs and prevent them coming back.

You have to do more than 1 thing or mites come back

then why use olive oil? What extra does olive oil offer over just ardap?
