Default Opinions on reptile housing at reptile shop!

Ive been in to ###### reptile shop today for the first time and was slightly concerned about the reps.

I just wondered on everyone elses opinions.

They had an adult female iguana in a 3ft max viv with no UV light, it couldnt really move, adult king snakes kept in small exo tanks.

None ot the bulbs had guards on although i saw a few thermostats on some vivs, they had some bearded dragons in a viv with the bulb pointed straight down and they both had there mouths open gasping (too hot).

Is it just me or does everyone else think they should be kept better, plus they wanted £120 for the iguana when you often see them free on this forum.

Opinions please

South coast exotics in Cowplain look after their reps so well, I always see them spraying them, all the animals are in big enough vivs/exo terras..

just because a BD is gaping to cool down doesn't mean the set up is incorrect. As for viv sizes most shops keep animals in smaller size vivs as they are truned around reasonably quickly. Unguarded bulbs isn't ideal, but the rest doesn't really sound like much of an issue TBH.

Crystal Palace Reptiles have unguarded bulbs, and don't get criticised for it. Presumably nothing has ever gone wrong or they'd have sorted it.

As for the iguana price, whilst there might be a lot of rehomes available free from people who have realised they bit off more than they could chew, a shop obviously has to charge something. To be honest, although most of the people on here would probably check the classifieds first and pick one up for free or for a low price, £120 doesn't seem out of order for an adult. Wouldn't pay it myself, but I don't think theyr'e exactly taking the p*ss.

My opinion is that I shouldn't comment on something that I haven't seen

LOL you obviously dont know much about beardies then

the animals with lights in are lizards.............and cant reach the bulbs to burn themselves on...............shops dont have animals in that long so the animals dont mind being in smaller enclosures for short amounts of time...............

Oh waiting on bulb gaurds so keep ya knickers on they will have gaurds...................

The iggy is up for that price because hmmmmmmmmm i wonder why its a shop we aint gonna give animals away free to good home Oh an not to mention we have been told by a fair few people that its was a good price

I notice you didnt slag the chams off or are they in sutible tanks with suitable lighting along with the other stuff you havent slagged off LOLOL

Oh no we have hatchlings in tubs too oh dear naughty us hey

All the animals in that shop are checked daily by me and the owners of the shop too

we feed them daily weekly or when ever required their water is changed on a daily basis

So before coming on here an slaggin us off if you have a problem with how our animals are kept come an speak to us...............we only bite when we aint been fed
