I don’t have time to read through 21 pages of the sticky.
I rarely ever get mites as most of our snakes come direct from the wild. If I have the slightest suspicion that new arrivals (that have come in via dealers) may have mites I treat them as soon as they arrive. I have had great success using sunflower/cooking oil. I just put the snake in a small container and completely submerge the snake in oil and after several minutes the mites will drown and float to the surface. Snakes can hold their breath for a surprisingly long time. Remove the snake from the oil and place in a container of old rags or newspaper to dry off.
You could repeat the process the following week / fortnight but I’ve not seen any mites after the first treatment. I care for a major venomous collection and have been using this treatment for over 10 years without any problem. Cooking oil is cheap and readily available.
