15 yrs,still learning.
It goes to show that once u think u know wot ur doing, Something comes along and proves u wrong. I needed to fit some extra ventelation to my BRB`s viv coz due to the high humidity, I`ve been getting a condensation problem. Anyway, I thought I`d use the time when she`d be in the feeding tank to actually feed her aswell. This is a proceedure I`ve been through, God knows how many times. The only difference this time was, coz I was doing 100 things at once, I put the food in the tank first. As soon as I put her head in the tank, BAM, she struck out and hit the mouse whilst still wrapped around my arm. People with no experience of Boas have got to realise that the power in these snakes is unbelievable. So I`ve got a boa wrapped around my arm, Squeezing like hell, with a mouse in her mouth. Try unwrapping a boa with one hand whilst its feeding. I`m not embarressed to admit that although she is well tamed it still made me a little nervous. The good news is, I managed to unwrap her and get her in the tank where she devoured her meal. Plus it must have triggered some instinct because she constricted her prey which is something new as she is used to the dead food. There we go. Live and learn. Snake in first, Then food !!!!
