has anyone had experience with Hypoaspis? im looking at buying some but want some feedback first. both my young pythons have mites at the moment, which i think has come from their bedding. its only in their viv i used the new bedding in. would any of you recomend using this?

bathing has been really usefull but a little polystyrene amazingly fools the mites!

if you look closley at a polysyerene chip tray for eg you can see all the little gaps in the molecules that, to a mite, is similar to the gaps in a snakes scales and in a nice warm viv the mites actually prefer it so pop a bit in and when you see all the mites have jamp on it, throw it away!

we discovered it by accident! you know what it's like trying to find hides for bigger snakes, we found a large fish box made of the stuff when we got our titch and she came with mites but she was self medicating by soaking the mites off herself so we bathed her and when we came back, all the mites were on the box, digging in head first like they really couldn't tell the difference! bonus so we kept putting in a clean bit and after a few days the mites were completly gone.

i remember last year in my bosc enclosure i had him on wood chips before i changed to sand and soil ,when i cleaned out all the chips i saw quite alot of little mites on the bottom of the viv ,are these the type that live on snakes or is it other mites ?

Other mites most likely, they are quite common, lots of different mite species.
