Lol! Fair enuf I'll give it a go and hopefully I won't burn the house down :P
Hiss is still sitting in his bath, but when I pick him up and examine him, I can't see any mites so I don't understand it. Do Royals like sitting in water? If it's nice and warm?

there are also reptile shops that carry a certain type of mite treatment
that prtects a snake 4 about a month (long enough 4 mites and eggs 2 die off) its applied once the snake has had a fresh shed i had a red tail boa that got mites (really really bad) and i had to rinse her off a few times just 2 get most of them off and there were still more on her and i got the treatment done and havent had a problem since idk what its called but u can try adding that it if u like good post BTE |

If you come into contact with mites or eggs somewhere you can take them home so if you are at a reptile shop/show/meet a person who has snakes it can happen. Maybe even brush against someone who you don't know when out & about who keeps snakes who have mites. I think I got mine when I bought something from an on-line reptile shop. All it would take is one egg stuck to the packaging, or whatever, that could hatch and I understand that the baby mite has a built in tracker for finding snakes (maybe some smell the snake gives off?) and off it goes. They usually have lots of baby mites off the snake in some dark courner, not necessarily in the viv. They can travel a fair distance but go in straight lines so you can put a barrier in the way to stop them. I now use Provent-a-mite sprayed on a cloth and wiped around all entries to the vivs (inc. vents etc) with the snake and water removed. I then return the snake and water once it has dried and all the fumes are gone and then have protection for a month.
