Default Treatment for Mites

Excellent information for the most part. I have dealt with many mite cases in the past and can honestly say that the only effective, safe way to get rid of the buggers is to get some FRONTLINE spray from your vet. It will cost about £20, but it's a small price to pay vs losing your valuable pet(s). Yes, everything in the enclosure needs to be removed as said, and treated also. Ideally substrate should be placed in a freezer for 24hrs to kill off any unwanted livestock!
As for all the other treatments, well - Ivermectin works but is meant for farm stock really so dosage can be tricky. Fly-strips and the like have almost gone from the shelves now as they nearly all contained a chemical no longer considered safe for use.
So, from my many years of experience I would strongly recomend FRONTLINE as the primary product in killing mites on snakes.

The only effective way? How about provent a mite its probably safer than frontline and worked a treat when I used it.

Did my reptile rooms with this product.Cant fault it so easy and simple and quick to use and most of all effective. Did the second course and not a mite in site. I had a real bad outbreak but even after the first time i sprayed them I found loads of dead mites. Now I can happely say I ( touch wood ) am mite free

iv found a basic organic insecticide from b and q does the trick wiv the vivs, bein organic it doesnt harm the snakes and is cheap and effective, cant beat frontline for the animals themselves
