only ever had mites the once about a year ago. got some frontline from the vet, sprayed onto a cloth undiluted and allowed the snake to slither through the cloth a few times, making sure it was kept away from the eyes and mouth. completely cleaned the viv out and frontlined it too, then thoroghly washed it out. havent had a problem since.
its worth remembering if its not already been said that bark/log decorations often harbour mites and are difficult to clean as they are so absorbant. i then replaced all the decoration with that flexible artificial branch stuff and plastic hides. much easier to keep clean too |

good thread mate but you missed out frontline very good stuff. I have found my self having to scrape out the eye sockets to get at the mites as well, doing that has saved me a lot of problems and not every one should do this unless you know what you are doing.

i have just read a thread that 400runner put on you dont need to dilute the frontline and for the eyes you wont have a problem as the eyes have a shell over them a lot of good herp vets will tell you that i have never had no probs wuth my snakes

The new beaphar insect spray is the best thing i have ever used personally tried everything to get it of my royal and this did the trick almost instantly. But theres also household things that can be used I mean i used warm water, Lemon juice and a small squirt of antibactirial handwash for my iggy he's never had them since!
