Mite Treatments

I don`t know if anyone as mentioned this product before as i have have not read the wholw thread -
I tried a new product a rep shop got from L Batley pet products it worked a treat.

It is made by "Sherleys" and goes under the name of - Beaphar reptile insect spray. It comes in 50ml sprays and is based on Ivermectine.

Spray direct onto the snake (not the eyes). Only for use on snakes over a certain weight and there are a couple of species not to be used on.
Good product but follow the instructions!!

Fairly new out so not in all shops.

Hi all,

Used this product in conjunction with frontline,put frontline on snakes with sponge, then cleaned and disinfected rubs put news paper in sprayed paper with the insect spray and around the top of rub and inside lid I removed the water for 36 hours, then disinfect and follow the same procedure with out the frontline except when the insect spray has dried on the paper put them some water in for a drink.
I am on my forth treatment and cannot see any mites I will give one more treatment and leave it at that.

I found the mites had come in on some orchid bark in a sealed bag.

I was advised not to use the spray on pythons,

I'm useing zoo med mite off on my royal atm, treated it once on it and it's encloser, doing it again tonight. how many times is it safe to use? i mean if i still them after 4 treatments should i stop using it or just carry on?

i must agree with this i had a number of treatments designed for reptiles and all failed.

If you got a problem with mights save time and money, get to a vet its normally about 17 pound a bottle but its superb for gettin rid of mites.

Another thing is i use orchid bark, a few bags have come with bugs in it, and guess wot frontline got rid of all of them!!!

Hypoastis Mites sound like the most thourough treatment. Any idea where the best place to buy them is?

I used it ever few days on mine, for about 2 weeks, and closely monitored the snakes and viv to see if any were left over. Mite off worked fine enough for me, but i also used a number of other methods at the same time... soaking the snakes, and tubs. I took advantage of our cold weather and put the viv they were in outside in the garage for a couple months just to be certain. Tubs are easier to maintain i reckon, until the mites are gone

I've been very fortunate over the last 20 odd years, and only had mites 3 times!

The first time, frontline wasn't available and I had an absolute nightmare gettig rid of the damn things.

I used Frontline after that for the other 2 occasions, and it worked brilliantly. 2 treatments - no more mites!!
