A New Guinea carpet python is a reduced pattern Irian Jaya, some call them poor mans Jaguar. They have a white belly and much more cream background than an Irian Jaya.
They are the same species, just different pattern morphs.

really? Ive never heard of that, Irian Jaya is the old name for the western half of Papua New Guinea, now called Western Papua. I believe the names ard interchangeable as the common name for m.s. Harrisoni, deriving from the country they were found in. Thats not to say that they arent found in the eastern half of the island where export has been banned for many years but either way, they are all the same species like you said.
