Well, as far as it goes, it's irresponsible for any keeper to advise *not* using a safety measure (which is what "you don't need one of those" is) - just as irresponsible as me telling you "Seatbelts? Awww, you don't need to wear one, I've been fine for 31 years..."

Whether or not I *always* wear a seatbelt* is irrelevant to the fact that wearing one makes travelling in a vehicle safer, and that I should advise people to do so; whether or not I have an un-statted heat mat** does not change the fact that I should NEVER recommend someone use a heat mat without one!

* No, I don't. Buses don't have seatbelts. I wish they did.
** Yes. At the back of my roach racks, wall-mounted. NEVER with reptiles.

Of course....keeping reptiles without a stat is exactly the same as travelling in a car or on a bus with no seat belt where someones else is driving itl !
