Default funny how it changes from country to country

My stepson is in the Army & lives in Germany, he has a corn snake out there & they are advised to keep them on sand as a substrate & only ever live feed them. There is no way I would keep my corn or royal on sand, but his as experienced no problems with it.
Strange how advice changes from 1 place to another isnt it?

question is how many people advised him this, and did the person who advised him actually know what they are talking about?

I am sure you could find someone over here who would advise you to keep a corn on sand, doesn't mean they are right.

Sand was the staple substrate many years ago ... again probably an example of advice given by someone who hasn't progressed with the hobby.

Very true. I have known people to keep snakes on sand and feed live in the UK.

Yeah I see what you are all saying & agree that wrong advice from 1 happens.
When he come home on leave I told him that sand was bad for corns & live feeding was something to be very careful with, he contacted another reptile shop/centre out there when he got back & they said he was doing everthing right.

Like you say i'm sure there is some places in the u.k that would advise these things also.

In the States too. However I'm pleased to see some big breeders that feed defrost as well as an increasing number of keepers.
