Default Need help convincing my mum!

I have been interested in getting a snake for about a year now and i asked my mum back then wether or not i should get one. The answer was no.

Since then i have been contacted by the breeder that is close by and i have had a look through the hatchlings and i really love http://www.hissnhers.co.uk/resources/K09166.JPG this snake and have my name on it for the next 10 days.

I asked my mum again and the answer was exactly the same, just wondering if there are any tips? or any of you can help?

Whats your mum's problem with snakes? If shes afraid you could get someone from the nearby area who would let you have a look at theirs, show her it, and that it won't eat her.

Alternatively, you could just smuggle it in like I do

What's her reasoning behind not allowing you to have one?

Corn snakes are cool little snakes and at that age very cute, maybe showing her a pic of the little fella might win her over?

I had the same problem with my mum it took 4 years for her to say yes lol, and the only reson why she said yes is because I took her to a few rep shops so she could see the corn snakes for her self and I asked the shop keeper that I knew if I could handle One of the corns, she saw how seatled it was and she saw I was confident, Then she got onto the subject what if it bites so the guy said to me do you want to handle one of the fisty ones and she saw i was still confident so I ended up taking The first snake I handled home.

My mum is petrified of snakes and wont even allow me to have lizards in the house!
after being with my bf for a year and a half we got a lizard together now have loads of pets lol!

altho if my mum wasnt so petrified i would have had them for quite some time by now.
find out what she doesnt like about them, tell her that theyre are not expensive to keep for food etc, if the answers still no, smuggle it in lol

I agree with cute, but I also think some of my spiders are cute and get laughed at because most people cannot see anything that isnt small and furry, and also food for these animals as anything close to cute.

Its all down to why she doesnt want you to have it.

there was an article in practical reptile keeping I think it was the july issue about how reptiles were great for young people and how to convince parents that they dont cost as much as people think and how young people can be very responsible etc,I wonder if you can still get it online or if someone on here has it and can scan it and show your mum, have you got a birthday coming up??

If you let her see that you have a genuine interest in them and read up on them constantly she will probably see that it's something you really want.

Take her to a few rep shops so she can see they are completely harmless.

I'd advise against smuggling it into the house though. She will find out about it sooner or later and then all of her trust in you will be destroyed and she will never let you have one!
