It's advised that you don't buy any more boas or pythons for at least 6 months to a year after having a case of IBD.

However you need to remember that it can harbour and if you have any existing boas or pythons left the pythons will go first, but the boas may never show signs...

It's been two months exactly since Clementine died, and thankfully none of my other boas or pythons (14 of them) are showing any signs or symptoms. Everyone is acting normally ie eating, pooping and shedding the way I would expect them to...

Interesting thought for the day....

I just found out that I have been blocked/banned/restricted/whatever from the classifieds section. And have been for a long time. (Just goes to show you how much attention I pay to that section of the forum)

The reason behind this being my admission of having a confirmed case of IBD. Which is understandable. But I think I have enough sensibility and self control to know I would never buy or sell another snake until my current snakes are long gone. THAT is for me to decide and NOBODY else.

Now think about this, I am the one being banned. But I have no intention of buying or selling. Lets for a second stop and think about WHERE I have bought the majority of my snakes.... RFUK! Reputable sellers and members and people who sell at reptiles shows etc (not that I have ever been to or intent to go to a reptile show).

I am labelled as some sort of plague carrier... ahhh stay away or I shall infect you. But I am not the one selling snakes... I know for a fact people I have bought from were at these shows and CONTINUE to sell snakes! I could name almost every single person and the snake/s I have bought from them over the years. Should I???? I don't know. My admission was never intended to get at anyone or lay blame, but this just takes the piss... It's hypocrisy at it's best and I wont stand for it!!!!!!

That is appalling Elle. I am sure if you had any intention of buying or selling anything with in the near future you would probably of not disclosed your situation, but you are obviously not like that. Little comfort though it is, from a personal point of view in the far future when and if you start to trade again, I would have more faith in your judgment that your collection is clear, than I would most people/shops, just because of your honesty.

I've noticed from some of your other posts that the rest of your collection seems to be doing well, keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope that they all live long and happy lives.

Thanks Debbie

As I stated a long time ago, I do not indent to trade or sell ANYTHING that exists in my current collection. And I obviously have no intention on buying anything new due to the nature of this disease.

It's the fact I was completely banned from the classifieds section without even being told!!! I pm'd t-bo yesterday to see what the score was and it was apparently ages ago that he did it due to some busy body who suggested it to him...

I am entitled access to those forums JUST like everyone else. It's the principle, not the fact I don't have any use for them anyway. Well I could use everything apart from the lizard and snake sections.

If you have no intention in buying or selling as you stated then I cant see why you need to mention it. I mean if you never use that area then it doesn't really matter does it??

I would also point out you are not the only person to have a classified ban and classifieds bans are given for a reason. As mods we cannot control who sells at shows, however we can control who advertises on this forum and like I pointed out everyone who has access removed will have done something to warrant removal. The majority of the time it is to protect other forum members as best as we can which the majority would understand.

If you do wish to discuss the further then feel free to PM.

It's hardly an incentive to be honest is it? and lets be frank here but you cannot be the only person in the whole country to have had this disease it didn't materialise from thin air, and even though I am not naive enough to think that RFUK is the be all and end all of the reptile community there must be at least a few who have had confirmed cases, where are they now?

You have thus far conducted yourself with integrity don't lower yourself by naming and shaming and hold your head high.

Part of my RFUK experience is to browse the classifieds I don't intend to buy or sell anything my small collection is all that I can afford at the moment but I do enjoy seeing what is available and what prices different reps are fetching.

Can I just point out, as I confirmed to Elle by PM, that this was done way BEFORE the "admission" on RFUK, but after some fairly recent snake sales on RFUK. We were made aware of stuff that had come to light on a US site, nothing had been said on RFUK, so we thought it better to take appropreate action in the mean time.

Elle in my PM I said that as you had now posted your thread on RFUK and confirmed that you are dealing with the matter properly I would open up parts of the classifieds for you, but after your PM and your posts here I dont think we will.

What, because I called you out on the matter? Because you didn't even have the decency to tell me I was banned?! I had to ask you to find out for myself.

I too am a browser. Even before this whole incident I often had no intent to buy or sell on the classifieds. I like to see whats going on, whats available on the current market and what the going prices are etc.

And for anyone who thinks I was rude or whatever in PM to you, here is exactly what I said...

"I think thats ridiculous that you would remove my access without telling me! It's absolutly nobody elses business whether I want to look at classifieds or not. Of course I am not going to buy or sell!

I had those corns for sale a good 6 weeks at least before Clementine got sick. And they were sold on the 27th of June, and Clem died on the 7th of July. I never once thought it was IBD. I never found out it was conclusivley IBD until the 21st of July. And as SOON as I found out that buyer was informed immediatley. As was as many buyers I could contact over the years of selling AND buying.

I think what you need to remember is the people I have bought my snakes from have been reputable forum members for the most part. Why not remove their access too?!

I would like full access back to the parts of the forum I am entitled to...

elle"

I see absolutly NO reason for me not to have access to the classifieds when I have openly admited to having IBD. Who in their right mind would buy from me any way?! I know I certainly wouldn't buy from someone who had admited that. So wheres the harm?

Why am I being punished for being responsible, open and honest?!
