A while back a snake came into the rescue in a bad state I managed to sort everything but the retained eye cap ..........tried everything. WLW explained this method to me and no it did not work the first time. Eye cap had been there for a while but within in two days eye cap gone.
I know lol, also say i were to one day have this problem where would i get hold of that gel thing you were using? Is it something you can only get from the vets?
asda, tesco, chemist, boots and so on....easy to get from almost anywhere

Thank you. I've never had a problem with eyecaps but it is something I always think "what do I do if they are still there" every time I check a shed. Now I won't have to needless worry any more.
Alternative eye cap removal? That seems like the only one you should be doing to be honest. I used a similar method to get rid of a dodgy cap from a boas eye recently. Saying you have to be careful is the understatement of the decade though.
Great thread WLW and at least now I have seen some good pics of retained eyecaps as well...... always worrying me whether mine have retained theirs or not, so now I know they haven't, but I do know where to look if they ever do
Congrats and keep up the good work
