Default large collection? obsession or not?

right ive been thinking about this for a while now and im still not sure what to think, i know that people have large collection's for breeding purposes but what about the people who stuff there room's with all sorts of rep's and viv's and rubs for collection only, would you consider this obsession or not? because when would you have time to handle and enjoy all of them when there's so many? im not against having so many as i would like to have alot of reps but only enough so that i could handle and enjoy the lot, id like to hear your views on this please

anyway..i have a good few ...personally i dont handle my snakes...nothing to do with not having the time...i just dont feel the need to get them out. they have no feelings of love or happiness towards me so dont wish to force one way feelings upon them.

We have quite a random collection, I dont think I could keep just to breed as from what I hear there is not much money in it. I kind of get what you mean, I never really understood why some people have loads of cats or dogs they must take up loads of time and space, but for snakes and things that live in vivs or tanks they dont take up much space, There are loads of snakes I would like the chance to keep but they live for such a long time if I just had one and waited for it to die then got the next one ,in my life time I would only be able to keep a few and miss out on loads.

pllus theres sooooooooooo many,

a dog would take up a fair amount of time whereas a snake takes up 5 mins, so u can hav loads of snakes that need no were near the level of phisical attention as a dog

yeah, Id say its a bit of an obsession, but not an unhealthy one. A man needs a hobby to keep him out of trouble and the pub, and your missus cant spend all your money if youve just spent it all on a pair of kick-ass pythons to breed in 3 or 4 years when 'you can easily make your money back dearest'!

I do not handle my snakes (other than for cleaning) and they are all what one might describe as being 'tame'.

Mine I presume have learnt that I am not a a predator and thus not a threat and are as good as gold when manoeuvred within the vivs or when taken out.
