Default Registered?

I have just looked into the Cornsnake Registry and would like to give it a go. But what I would like to know is - does it make a difference as a buyer? Would you pay a couple of quid more for a registered snake or just go for one out of a shop?

I wasn't aware there was one in the UK.. I have never heard of a UK breeder registering their corn snakes and cannot imagine anyone would pay more for it.

I don't feel the need for such a register myself. A registered snake is not necessarily of any better quality than a non-registered one. It's just not worth the extra money IMO.

i'd imagine breeders may pay a few more quid because if a proven pair of snakes are registered, and then their hatchlings are registered etc theres some traceability to their genetics and you will know what you are getting with regard to hets.
the ordinary man on the street looking for his first snake probably wouldn't care.
....and is there a UK based registry?

it's now worldwide - but still goes under the name of American. Not sure if there is UK one.

Yeah as Ian says, it's more to do with the traceability of bloodstock rather than adding a few quid to the price of the hatchlings. It helps the buyer feel happier & safer in dealing with the breeder....

Was just wondering if people would be happier buying a snake with a certificate or just buying any snake. From my point of view I like to know where my snake comes from and from that perspective is the main reason I want to do it. I'm going to register my breeders and then pre-register the babies. That way it's up to the new owners. Brian how do you do it? Do you register all babies or leave it up to new owners?

You can preregister the clutch, you will then get stickers which will go with every hatchling you sell. It is then up to the buyer if they want to follow up on that & register that hatchling with the Acr.......
