Default The Sinder Story

Roger (sinder man bought a pair of common boas in 2003 from a shop in West Yorkshire but the female was gravid so they were left at the shop until she laid. The offspring were sold by the shop and Roger took the parents home. In 2006 Roger bred the pair together again, after being messed about a bit he took the babies into Herpmad, in Morley and offered them to the owner Shane (herpmad), who noticed an unusual colouration on the belly’s of these babies.

Dad

Mum

This is what Shane said about the babies:- “We are convinced that they are a form of hypo and the male that bred them must be a super due to the whole litter being be a sort of hypo except two which I own, we have spent the last few months losing lots of sleep and hours looking on sites trying to find something close to these snakes but with no luck so before I go on I’m going to post the first named picture of mine and see what you think of the Sinder Faze boa”

And Shane’s first picture of Sinder

“This is a male we think this is the super forum of this hypo”

The colouring was described as looking as though the snake has slithered through the cinders of a fire hence the name Sinder.

I bought one of these babies from Shane and he gradually developed a very strong orange colouring while retaining the blue/pink along his neck.

In 2007 Roger bred the male to another female and the original female to another male. At around this time one of the original 2003 litter sold by the shop, turned up looking amazingly like my sibling.

The 2003 sib.

Meanwhile the eagerly awaited litters from Roger’s two gravid females were almost lost as the flood waters rose in Wakefield, flooding Roger’s cellar where the boas were kept. Fortunately the two girls avoided the water but had to be hurriedly moved to dry quarters. Eventually both females produced their offspring and to everyone’s delight showed milar traits to the 06 Sinder sibs.

These are pics of my four 07 girls.

First is the female from Sinders mother’s litter. She is beginning to show the orange that my 06 and the 03 have.

The rest are from Sinder’s father’s litter, all showing the same blue/pink

As Shane has temporarily given up his snakes, I bought his four 06 Sinder sibs and I fully intend to continue the breeding plans he and Roger made. 2009 will be an interesting year as all 7 of the 06s that Roger and I own, reach breeding age and will be bred brother to sister but the males will also be bred to other females in the hope that the Sinder Faze can be proved out.

In the meatime we are awaiting the arrival of Roger’s breeding this year of Sinders mother to her 03 son but she’s hanging on and tormenting us.

Sinder and 4 of his siblings taken 8th July 2008

Sadly the 2009 breeding didn't go to plan as the Sinder x Sinder mating ended with 21 slugs and 1 stillborn although Roger has a litter of Sinder x Hypos which are already showing signs of Sinder colouring.

That sure is a good looking boa... Dad looks like a Hogg cross to me, could explain the hypoishness.... So is the gist of what you're saying that you've created / found a new line of Hypos?

It has yet to be proved but it's looking that way but it's Roger (sinderman) and Shane (herpmad) that get the credit for it. All I have done is buy Shane's 2 pairs so they stayed together where Roger and I can continue the breeding plans.

Roger and I both agree that the brighter Sinders are the nicest and the beauty of them is the colour continues to improve as they mature.

I just hope my Ash will get his act together this year and breed.

He looks great.

Would you mind if I keep those pics as I only have one of him? Roger's no good at taking pics

i realy wish i had kept with this breeding project but my love lyes else where although me a sinder man do have the occational chat about them and im eggelry waiting these being put to other morphs and being breed bk to see the out come

i did say i think there is a hypo type gene at work here and i also said the may me sumt else in there casue it did look like two difined groups that came out some hypoish and the rest had some stunning orange and fire reds but only time will tell

lol all started with some rubbish looking babies

also we looked into the hog crosses but there is no comparision when you put different generation hog crosses next to these the only snakes that come close is the corn island but then when the adult were babys i dout there was many about to cross breed them in but who knows

Thanks for the pics, Shane. I'll save a few if that's ok.

Corn Island certainly seems the most likely influence but I think Ugly (the male) carries the hypo and mum carries the orange.
