Default any adivce for keeping a faunarium warmer

Hi guys, relative newbie here with a 3 month old baby corn Ivan. Aboslitly in awe with him ofc. I have done a lot of research on corn snakes before getting one but I'm finding it really hard to get tips on keeping faunariums warm. With him only being 3 his faunarium is the small extra Terra ones however its spelt. I have my 4 by 5" heat mat strapped to the bottom and covering a 1/3rd of the tank. For now kitchen paper is my substrate of choice and that's only two pro es folded to fit. I have the mat thermastat set to 31 degrees c and two therometers at the top of each end of the tank (the Exo Terra ones) and fimaly I used celotape to cover most of the top vents but Im scared that the tank isn't hot enough! :S the readings are 24c I'm the cool end and 28c in the warm side (a t-shirt is I'm there to help him to get my sent). With it only being a small tank I didn't expect there to be a large temp difference between the too. But does that all sound ok. Seems a little too cool compared to what I have heard. He dosnt seem too active but I though he may just be shy because he isnt always on the warm end but he is under the kitchen paper alot.

I will be getting the larger faunarium soon and I want to make sure i have got the heating sorted. He had a feed last sat and he seems to have digested it well.
The main thing causing me doubt is that I know that faunariums don't keep heat well and with the thermometers being at the top I don't know if its hot at the bottom but escaping on the way up or just too cold. He does feel cold when I handle him but I thought with h being cold blooded it was a no brainer! But just to make sure.

Hope that all helps. Sorry its long winded. All written on my phone due to a lack of net !

A good/cheap way to insulate a tub like that is corkbark sheets. But TBH i think a hot end of 28 is the correct ammount.

Hey thanksss, but i meant to type 26 even, think I subconciously typed 28 because that's the ideal temp I was thinking of. Also, how do i know i the humidity is right, he isnt far of. Shedding and i wantto make sure its a smooth operation

What I do is provide a humid hide at shedding time, so for a hatchling, a washed out butter container with a entrance hole, filled with damp moss or damp kitchen roll. Then if the snake feels the need to moisten up a little it will go in there of its own accord.

u could change to a r.u.b.

i found heat conduction a bit better
and those faunariums arnt great for holding stable humidity due to the tons of slits in them
