Default From non feeder to strike feeder in 5 days

My non feeding hatchling royal had his first meal last night ! Previously he turned his nose up at anything I offered him ....... and I tried everything I could think of, different food items, braining, tuna brine, floor feeding even assist feeding but no success. I had no serious concern yet, but he did loose a bit of weight and I really wanted to get him feeding .....

So, I tried the water starvation technique, and I am still absolutely amazed at how well it worked !
I left him without water for 5 days and then offered him the same food item as before ( but soaked in hot water this time ) and he nearly took my hand off ! SUCCESS !!

I must say I was sceptical about this, but it looks like it's a winner - good one WLW

Thanks alan1

This really works a treat mate!
I must admit i did feel a bit sorry to leave him without water, but the result was amazing, he struck as soon as i opened his tub!
Do you think he will be ok from now on, or did you ever have to repeat this method more than once with the same snake?

Can i ask, if using this method do you keep the temperatures the same or do you drop them down slightly. I thinking 5 days at normal temperature and no wonder it nearly took your hand off. Would it need 5 days? And would it need repeating atall normally.

I kept the temps the same and went for 5 days rather than 7. I believe the recomended time is 5-7 days. This was the first time ive done this and im really hoping i wount need to do it again coz i was a bit worried (but i was told theres no need to worry tho)

5-7 days without water is fine...
they do it themselves every so often, ie: when a shed is due, they curl up and hide... without water !!!
for the next meal, offer a very warm wet one again, should be accepted...
occasionally, a repeat is necessary, but not very often...
