Heres a very weird tip i got recently....
one of the us breeders tried scenting with cold hot dog water from the tin, and it worked.
one of my males had been off food for months, soaked a pink in the stuff, and it went, along with 4 more pinks and a fluff ???
As mentioned above, lancefish does work well in a lot of cases, or try egg white/yolk coated pinks.

i suppose the hot dog thing is the taste of brine,a bit like tuna brine i suspect.

still worth a go though as tuna brine is very strong where as the hot dogs wont be. its two very different things imo

Thanks for the tips, I'll get a tin of hotdogs and try the lance fish as well, I used water from tuna in springwater anyway so wasnt salty. I have some Lance fish in my freezer for the xenopus frog, I keep wondering if I should try rubbing the pinkie on my frog? if i can manage to do that without it swallowing it.

Someone at tyranasuarus pets just said dont bother scenting as theyre better having it how they always have it and its best not to train them to need scented so Im trying without scent to start with and if she doesnt want it then i scent it.

I was just worried that if it was a time of year thing that she would refuse till it came spring which is too far away.

have to disagree, better they feed on scented, rather than lose weight or you have to assist feed.
Once they are feeding on scented, the usual Hog feeding response will take over in time.

Mine turned down his first feed but took it the next day. Last time I offered he didn't want it either, will try again tomorrow and leave it in overnight as suggested earlier.

Once when my adult wasn't eating I defrosted all my snakes' food together (I don't normally do them all the same day) so her mouse was defrosted in with the boids' rats. Maybe it was the stronger scent of lots of rodents defrosting during the day and all the fact they were all in together but she fed.

I've also wondered about frog scenting - we've recently had a white's tree frog - would that be OK?
