you dont put anything but newspaper in as substrate and maybe a hide and water. You also use beaphar insect spray once a week until you dont see mites anymore. This process will take around 3 weeks to a month of persistant cleaning vivs to get rid of them.

There are other treatments but I do this and it works for me.

mite 0ff, is rediculously bad. i only use it in the shop i work in cuz its hard 2 find anything that does not effect fish or inverts.

i find it must be applyed directly on the snake AND in the viv every day for 3 weeks to get any result what so ever

Its total garbage, beaphar insect spray works but it will wipe out any aquatic life it goes anywhere near I think, which might not be the best thing to do as you will likely get sacked.

Me and the OH had more or less this happen

In the end we thouroughly disinfected the viv a couple of times a week, had it set up with newspaper substrate, a water bowl and a hide and soaked and oiled the snakes every day (to drown /suffocate the mites) and hey presto, about 3 months later the problem was solved...

They are persistant little buggers!!!!

Had the same with my royal, mites appearing after buying. Found Ardap worked v.v.well. As well as disinfecting the vivs & decor with vircon & putting the snakes on paper towels they were gone after about 9 days. Touchwood they have not made a reappearance.
