Thumbs down well it just had to happen :(

my royal has finally refused a feed after 50 consecutive feeds in a row she has now decided that tonight is the night that she stops. such a shame was hoping she would have made it to 52 then would have been a whole year of her feeding without a miss.

owell hopefully this isnt the begining of a long fast and normal feeding will commence next week.

know how you feel mate, my male pastel stopped feeding 3 weeks ago, he'd only missed one feed since i got him in September 08. 2 out of 3 of my royals are now refusing regularly, its only a matter of time before the third stops...

Mine refused last week after 16 consecutive feeds! I just tried again tonight and he seems really interested, but just doesn't strike. Is this similar behaviour that others have experienced?

Also, how long do you leave it after a refused feed before trying again?

In my experience most royals will feed consistently until they get up to about 1000g...that's when the fasting starts!

ha ha, how true. i got two female royals last year around the same time, they are about the same age, didnt miss a feed in a year, awesome, couldnt understand what people were saying about royals not feeding, thought it was rubbish, ha ha, i was so wrong. the bigger one got to a little under 900g, and then she stopped eating. maybe ate once every 10 weeks or so since then, very sporadic, and the smaller one stopped eating in sympathy, great! i have now got them both feeding again, on multi-scented rats, for now, lol, and the bigger of the two has finally just topped over a kg. so it took a year to get her to put on 100g, . royals, cheeky little sods.
