Not necessarily

As said, heat mats don't heat the air...so they're not good for keeping/boosting ambient air temps.

If the room the snake is kept in isn't heated, the mat may well struggle to keep the temps at the right level.

A heat mat is ideal for use under a tub etc...as long as the room temp is reasonable. A heat light would work well to get the temps right...as long as it is guarded and statted appropriately.

But in reality, the best bet a a RUB, as the glass tank won't be helping in maintaining the temps as it is.

p.s to be honest you really dont need the light for corns a heat mat under one end will be enough corns dont need it anywhere near as hot as some speices although i do keep my corns heat mat plugged into a thermosat

ideal temp of about 86 f at the hot end and 68 - 71 at the cool end
( this is just what i have found works for me not everyone might agree with me but this would be my recomendation!)

hope this helps

hi m8 ive checked and it's around that temp, ive had to buy some guage for vetilation and it seems to be better also the condensation has disapeared as well so i think the lack of the ventilation had the temp higher than it should.

nice amel corn you have mate as everyone has said you be better off with just the heat buld with guard controlled by a dimmer thermostate or a tub with heat mat at 1 end controled by a mat stat depending on the room temps as if the room temps are too cold the mat might not give you the right temps, i find with my corns they do well with slightly lower temps 80 - 82F at hot end and 72-75F at cool end

S'ok i realise that, it was on the assumption that the room temp was being kept at a reasonable level.

Yep that mat is fine to put underneath the tank. Fix it to the bottom with some tape, and try to leave some space between the mat and the surface the tank is on, with some wooden blocks at each corner of the tank just as an example.
