1) Nicoteen is HIGHLY toxic to reptiles. You shouldn't really even handle them after you have been smoking unless you have thoroughly washed you hands

2) Also, if your vivs are properly ventilated, then if you smoke near your vivs you are forcing the animals to breath in your toxic fumes. They can't even move to another room to escape. I feel very strongly that if some one does admit to smoking in their rep room then they are guilty of breaching the Animal Welfare.

3) As you have stated Moody, you don't smoke in your rep room so the above is not aimed at you, but I'm hoping no-one comes on and says 'I do'......

Cheers

Andy

- Nicotine is only classed as toxic to reptiles if it is ingested http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=a36rGkkFo2IC&pg=PA539&lpg=PA539&dq=nicoti ne+reptiles&source=bl&ots=ZpSzbo6Nt0&sig=8WdjrOS34 LZyBQhCKH-w9ezSE70&hl=en&ei=Fv7xSundFcOZjAfjp82iDg&sa=X&oi=b ook_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CBIQ6AEwAg#v=on epage&q=nicotine%20reptiles&f=false
It has been tentatively linked to RI's ... but I've not seen that in my collection.

- If the room is properly ventilated I don't see a problem. Passive smoking statistics are horribly over-exaggerated as it is. Forcing the animals to breathe smoke would be actively exhaling into their enclosure or some chav trying to get his animal stoned because he thought it was funny kind of thing.

Passive smoking is worse than actually smoking. Its dangerous for humans so will be even more dangerous for reptiles
