Exactly what we all want to do, whether the best is smaller than what others would agree with, or more sparse. Snakes are individuals, and each will behave differently. So what is "appropriate" for one, won't be for another. Which, I suppose is what makes these threads absolutely pointless.

Yup. Always fun to bounce your ideas off other keepers though.

out of all the snakes i have (16 at the mo, 9 are only here temporarily) only one is in a viv, the rest are in boxes, the viv is only a 2ftx15''x15'', smaller then some of the tubs! it also has only a water bowl, how are the tubs 'cruel' and the viv not?

Exactly what I mean !!!

it's pretty simple really after moving 2 09 500g royals into tubs big enough for over a kilo snake they slowed then stopped feeding reguarly moved them back into a 9l rub and bang on the weener rat female had a small and large one.this is why they are kept in small rubs i handle them reguarly so they get exercise but in small rubs mimicking burrows where they live they FEED
it's not rocket science

RUB's are great
they take no time to clean
they are so small you can cram loads into a small space
they are easy to heat
they are almost escape proof
they are specifically designed to hold stationary in offices
At the end of the day, They are small plastic boxes.
Ideally convienient for humans, not so for the reptiles who have to spend all of their lives in them.

i have absolutely no problem with rubs. 3 of my snakes are kept in vivs because it suits them and the others are kept in rubs as they feed better in rubs. also rubs are really usefull if snakes get mites or anything. there so easy to clean etc
