Default When your royals refuse a feed...

When your royals refuse a feed, how do they react?

Because my royal never used to show any interest when he'd refuse a feed. He'd eaten about 15 rats once a week and stopped about a month ago.

Now when I offer him a rat, he looks really interested and reacts in exactly the same way as he does when he accepts the rat. Really inquisitive, comes out of his hide when he smells it, but just doesn't strike.

Mine's pretty regular but on the odd occasion he doesn't eat he's still struck it and constricted it but just not eaten it.

Mine either just completly ignore the food item, or constrict it, then leave it. Do you really mean your Royal ate 15 rats in a week, or am i reading that wring??

MIne has refused the past couple of times, she shows interest but doesn't strike it or anything, not worried as she's fed every week for the past 18 months and more than doubled her weight.

Haha! You're reading it correctly! But I worded it wrong. I mean he ate 1 a week for the past 15 weeks. So 15 rats in all!

It's good to know that some people's royals act inquisitive but still don't strike. I guess it's no use asking questions like this though as they're animals and not machines so are all different!

Haha!!!...Had me worried there!!! A rat a week sounds A-OK to me, dont worry he"ll go back on when he"s ready. If he"s past two years old its kinda normal anyways, as the Royal breeding season starts around now. Dont worry.

My male royal misses an occasional feed and that's what he always does. Strikes, constricts, and then leaves it!

I thought she meant 15 rats aweek every week!

I thought I knew why it had stopped eating!

Royals in my opinon are the most frustrating feeders i have encounterd, today i could of happily gave my female away, she struck, constricted it then dropped it four times, grabbed my jacket once and my jeans leg once
Then finally after two hours she ate the mangled gerbil with no tail and back legs
Gotta love royals
