Default Bit of a difficult one...

The king is appearing to be a struggle still and at the moment i'm not absolutely sure what to do really.. In total now she has eaten 2 times in 15 weeks, once a long while back and the other time 2 weeks ago on a fk multi.. But again on trying to feed her today, this time on a mouse as i'm currently out of multi's, she isn't eating.. I have just tried to feed her now, with some initial interest I thought she may of decided to take the mouse, but has not. But unlike last week, I did manage to get 4 closed mouth strikes.. I will try again in about 30 minutes to see if I can get anything out of her but I'm not to hopeful.. But details wise, she is supposedly female, but I am thinking she is most likely actually a he. She's been with me since about June and was eating perfectly. At the moment her temperature in the viv is 28.8 celcsius but due to the temps sometimes reaching lower than that I hope to soon be switching to ceramics instead of the 2 heat mats and the 100w matt stat which i'm currently running the heating on. Now I have been told that her not eating could be due to breeding season, but her on and off eating is what makes me think other wise? Any thoughts and bits of advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

I take it 28.8c is your hot side temperature and that the king can get to somewhere cooler?

Yeah that's the hot side. She spends all her time in the cool end but I think that is just because that is her prefered hide. If anything I'm struggling to get the temps I want thus why I will be changing to ceramics asap. Thanks.

Well that's the thing, i'm not sure.. I was told by the shop I brought it from that it was a she but with the going off feeding it has given me doubts.. It's just the length that she has been off food for that is leading me towards thinking that this is possibly not due to breeding season? Age wise, I don't know for sure but it could be anywhere between 4-6 years.. Thanks.

The problem is when something probes female if could well be a male tensing the muscles to stop the probe from going in which is why probing is never 100% even by the most experienced hand. I would just get a ceramic ASAP and leave it until march until you need to start to get a little concerned.

I've always kept kings at 29-29.5*c and have found they do very well at these temps.
