Question Heat source

I was reading about heat rocks on a website and was wondering if i would need a secondary heat source (heat mat) as well. the reason i was wondering is because on the page below it says `use a secondary heat source for these tropical animals'-list of animal

Avoid these like the plague, They are very difficult to control and often result in burns.
