Maybe try telling her what the snake is actually like, eg how big it grows, what the temperament is like etc, so she knows a bit more and is a bit more understanding? Or could offer to help a bit around the house in return..

All snakes pretty much grow bigger than her, thus making it scary to her lol I may say that their temperament is alot more dolice compared to corn snakes. White lies never hurt anyone

Like another is going to make them automatically want to escape 24/7 and deadly? Anyway i have a feeling that its because Python was mentioned. Old people who know nothing about snakes seem to panic when a python is mentioned, ive explained that it wont eat her. (Even though she is 4' 11" )

Anyone think of any good arguments or tips to help me convince her, or am i going to have to hide it under my bed?
i know exactly how you feel im going to be getting a new snake from the doncaster show in june, and when i tell my mum that i want a false water cobra she instantly thinks its going to be a real cobra its realy anoying its quite hard to explain anything to my mum though she seems to think that a four foot corn snake is massive

Same here....

I might start off big, ask for a reticulated python or an anaconda, tell her the sized and stuff them work my way down to a royal and hope for a "Go on then" or a "we'll see" Which, in mother language, almost always means yes

Tell her you're getting a puppy, and dress the snake in ears and a fur coat...she won't know the difference

Just keep talking about it starting with "I know I won't be getting any, but guess what they do..." and ending with "I wish I could have one" until it drives her mental.

Its how I got my Anoles anyway

you could try respecting your mums' wishes as it is her house after all...

but i have absolutely no room to talk as my dad told me i could have one and only one... i just kept bringing them home until i had 55 of them.....

and i have another 6 on hold

each new one i get i tell him i got it on a swap for one of mine, thus he thinks i still have 20 or so...
