Default Mite Treatments

Right... im at my end of my tether with poxy mites now!

Two bottles of Mite off later - 4 deep cleans - numerous baths - wipes and rubs downs later and i still got the little feckers!

So, lefty has suggested front line spot on (not the spray - the pipette). Frontline is approx £20 and the active ingrediant is Fipronil.

However, the bob marting one (which i use on my cats and its excellent) is approx £6 and the active ingrediant is Permethrin.

Obviously Fibronil works on snakes, has anyone used the Permethrin based treatment with success?

Just cant see the point in spending £20 when i can spend £6 and acheive the same result.

Thanks

RB

when i had mites i succesfuly got rid of the little by bathing my snake in a warm tub of water with olive oil not loads but a decent amount and close the lid and leave him/ her in their for half an hour to an hour while i cleaned out his tub i also stuck some double sided sticky tape around his tub so no more mites could get into his home hope this helps

ive always used the spray frontline on mine but a cheap alternative is olive oil the mites and eggs cant stick to the snake when coated in olive oil just make sure to wash it off before they get on the heatmat or theyll smell like chips when they get warm

Callingtons Mite spray
Safe for your animal, safe for you, HSE approved and very effective!!
Why look elsewhere and use ineffective Zoo Med soapy water when this is available?

or you could spend £1 and use olive oil.

Olive oil makes the mites fall off but you have no assurances of the mites being killed. They will remain in the crevices of the cage until the oil gets wiped off the snakes by it's movement and they will be straight back.
Yes it works but not that effectively.
Callingtons is a very effective and, just as importantly, safe treatment that works.
