oh i know what you mean, im really saying the process is awful, and i hope it wasn't killed solely for this purpose. but then again if we only skinned naturally deceased cows the world would have a leather shortage! and i do like hamburgers!

Id imagine if it was skinned for a reason, it would have been made into something.
It would be more value alive.
If i considered taxidermy though, i think id have the body stuffed rather than made flat with felt stuck on.

Thought provoking

depends.. i know a few people ON HERE that are into taxidermy and use DEAD animals.. who's to say the royals hadnt died and then been recycled? to be honest if they were just killed for their skin its horrible but worse things happen.. and if they were already dead then i dont see the problem.. if we have another snake die on us it will be getting sent of to someone on here to practice on.. or mabey turned into a wallet.. i mean surley that is bette than it getting incinerated by the vets?

i am a veggie...also vegan for the past year as well and i wear leather. it is a meat byproduct and i feel no guilt in wearing it.

i do also collect various items of taxidermy and i am building a sizeable collection...however i will not buy or support anyone who uses animals which are killed for the purpose of being stuffed. in the uk it is illegal to use any animal that wasnt already dead...hence most taxidermy is roadkill and i have no issues about it.

unfortunately in the states just about any animal you can imagine will be killed and stuffed...its just more acceptable culturally i suppose...being american i never supported it but i saw it often and there was little i could do...therefore the only taxidermy i bought there was from shops who only stocked taxidermy from animals who died from natural causes...and the shop in question i trust wholeheartedly as i know the owners are good people.

unfortunately people will do what they feel they gotta do...personally i feel if you eat animals then what is the difference between housing them cruelly in claustrophobic constraints, shoving forcefeeding tubes down their throats ,cutting their throats whilst they are still struggling and bitchering them for their flesh...versus killing them and shoving stuffing up their bottoms? moral dilemna? yes!!! but for whom is the question in my mind

cows that are used for leather are not the same as what are usually eaten, they are bred specifically for their skin, well good quality leather is anyway
