same here, i put a tub of shredded paper in as it solves their desire to hide and feel secure looking out in ambush without the problems assosiated with prolonged soaking.

i also use it with other species as its cheap, light and easy to replace, the bigger snakes just flatten it down but i still use it as they like to try and burrow in it.

i dont use it on my royals as their heavy bodies just compact it and it s a waste

corns and kings - GREAT !!!!!!!!!! they can burrow if they want

watch what u shred though , make sure theres no gums or adhesives (a lot of invoices in ur mail have all that) , most inks r pretty safe now
ive previously found shredded newspaper goes soggy far too quickly , just regullar stuff is brill

You can buy a cheap ream of printing paper for about £1.50 these days.

That makes a LOT of shredded paper

Slightly off topic, but a good substrate in a climate needing more humidity is sphagnum moss. It is a bit more expensive but lookes awesome, retains moisture and only needs changing once a month and spot cleaning.

Just buy it from a garden centre and sterilise it yourself....
