I suggest you take the time to grow your Boa on to get a real idea of the power of a decent sized constrictor before you consider a massive one. Find someone who keeps the big guys and is willing to let you work with them and handle them for yourself. In particular, try to get a chance to feed some of the big guys, because that is when they are at their most dangerous.

i agree with this 100%...my female burm once popped the back off her viv (when i lived in the flat) and i was defrosting their food at the time in the bathroom, i didnt even hear a thing...then turned round to see her head almost up to my waist level and in feeding mode! i had nothing in the bathroom to cancel her feeding response! luckily my other half was in and i called to her and she dragged her away by her tail back into our bedroom, this was a very solid viv (so i thought) but shows how strong they can be (she was only around 9ft at the time), and also how easily mistakes can happen! luckily i now have my own herp room...and she is in an extra strong viv! lol....this is embarresing for me to admit! as i consider myself very experienced with snakes since i grew up with them, but checking the back of the viv didn`t even occur to me! ![]() |

This is terry holding a 9ft wc aggressive hypo sorong scrub....as you can see with little to no trouble. ![]() now i deal with all of mine alone as i live alone and prefer to work alone...i use 2 midwest python hooks to deal with all of my nasty ones...but ive had to learn how to do this...and as a result i have scars up me from bites so its not something i do reckonmend on your own no....but just saying you dont need 3 for a scrub. ![]() Quote:
I think these 2 go in hand in hand...while i think joel was wrong for what he said,i do also think its unfair to put scrubs down as aggressive snakes...i have 15 scubs(morelia amethistina)...i have 7 very nasty and aggressive ones which are adults when i got them so ive never bothered taming them down and its really not worth the blood shed. But i have 8 which are sub-adult to adult which are tamer than any corn ive ever met....and i dont even handle them...just like other morelia such as your carpets, scrubs make great tame and docile pet snakes....theres no such thing as "a odd tame scrub"...they are very docile snakes, its just people are too used to reading all the crap on the net about wc ones. 30 years ago retics were these horriable nasty snakes that just used to bite...but that was because there wc...but now look how many people keep them and how tame they are |

Indian/burmese python, theyre a nice snake, they can potentially get quite qa bit bigger than 15 foot but probably on average they wont do? I'm more a colubrid person so not too sure but they'd be the one I'd be looking at with you're description.

You could do some research on olive pythons. They get nearly to the required size, but are slender like a carpet/retic and are supposed to be quite laid back. I saw a couple of babies a while ago and was nearly persuaded to buy. They get a bit big for my liking.
