Thumbs up

Hi there we keep corns, dont be worried that they are fast and try to get away its normal.after time they calm down and love being handled! away from the viv is a good idea,i always sit on the settee with mine and pop them back after 10 mins or so.when they get older and calmer you can have them out for longer, but babies take a bit of time.so a few times out a week is plenty, dont handle after a feed for a couple of days,as they might regurge their food!not nice!no need to touch them in the viv when you change the water etc, just wait until you get them out.make sure they have lots of places to hide, small boxes, caves etc in the viv, makes them less stressed for you.mine prefer to be handled in the evenings i dont tend to get them out in the day.any worries fell free to pm me,if i can help i will! mellx

i also have a question re ; taming a corn, just got a female carolina corn, which is not used to being picked up but seems fine if being held just a bit skittish and jumpy

when trying to get her out of the rub i have had to resort to a snake hook as she tries to tag you, she gets into defensive mode and starts launching herself at you. once i got her out with the hook, which took a little while as she was crafty and went back on herself and got off the hook, and sat down with her she was fine and once put back in her rub she was zipping around then went back into her hide.

curious as to how i tame her down in the sense that i can pick her up with my hands, rather than resort to hook and a glove. i havent been bitten and would rather not be bitten to be honest. lol i am a pansy i admit it.

ps: she is just over a year old

Use a glove for a while if it helps you overcome your fear, dont bother with the hook as it will probably scare the corn which could make it more defensive! always make sure it has had enough to eat offer more than one fuzzie at a feed ,and feed out of the viv in a suitable container.as if hungry and fed in its viv,it might associate your fingers as nice food!!!! always wash your hands before handling, and use tongs for feeding. best to get your corn out in the evening when settled and scoop it up,dont try to pick it up from above! hope this helps, mellx

not a problem. this is a forum, a free exchange of information

and after a week you get less worried about being tagged. i know i have.

mine is an adult so i sorta feel like it is teaching an old dog new tricks. but im still persevering.

my advice to you loki. is just keep trying and trying and you will notice a difference in the first week alone, and take scarlet_rains advice i find it really helps
