Personally never experianced it in nearly 30 years.

Often its more of a case that the temps drop so the immune system of the snake does aswell...which leaves the snake vunerable problems.

Maders reptile medicen has some great articles on mesoophilic fungi affects reptiles that have there core body temps dropped low too quickly.

Also remember that 1 of the 5 immune barriers found in reptiles are located in the respitory system. Its from the immue system thay muscus is formed, this often traps pathogens from traveling futher down the snakes body,but this is hard to do if the temps of the snake are regulating correctly.

Often the reason wc snakes arrive with RI is because of this

Yep mader is a 'good' read.
The fungi spores if present, would also need time along with the correct (incorrect for poor snakey) temperature to germinate. I can see this on a (days) long CF or WC import journey where there was natural exposure to the fungi mentioned, but I'd find it unusual from a short few hour journey with a captive bred snake..?

I can see why the op is being flamed for lack of quarantine and perhaps not maintaining a constant transport temperature but don't really see the above scenario playing out in a previously healthy captive bred snake.

Firstly, I've at no point taken this as a personal attack on me and understand that anyone who has commented on this thread, hasn't seen my collection or purchased any of my animals. I appreciate everyone's concern but felt the need to comment.

I agree - However, all of my animals are kept 100% sterile, all of the time and not just when I have visitors.

I personally don't add any new animals to my collection unless I've quarantined them for at least a month. All my animals are quarantined in a separate property and in a separate room away from my personal collection….including this animal.

I also don't advise anyone who buys from me to quarantine - why should I? I ensure they are 100% healthy, eating and shedding fine. No animal would leave me - if they wasn't 100% healthy. My reputation depends on this and so does the health and future of the animal being sold.

However, if a snake is being transported at distance, I do strongly advise they consider keeping them separate for a while to ensure they haven't contracted an RI due to stress and exposure to low/high temps….this wasn't the case with this animal and he was in transport for no more than 10 minutes.

No worries mate...like i say i wasnt having ago at you at all....just saying sometimes you can be too trusting off a person....i had someone off livefoods forum who was very well respected courier a macklots python to me ....he stated it was cb and in A1 condition....it arrived infested with mites,scratches all over it and 7 large tape worms found in it.

Alot of people on here have had the same things such as the suri boa that needed £300+ vet care from a trusted memember....not everyone is as good as you though so sometimes its good to be alittle untrusting if you get me.

But still even though your animals are 100% top notch i still wouldnt reckonmend someone put one of my animals into a breeding program prior to them even feeding/settling the snake in...stress is still stress reguardless of where the snake comes from
