Default Quarantining

Hi guys. I'm going to pick up a coastal carpet soon, and I already have a royal in my room. The royal is housed in a RUB and the CCP will be too (initially). Is it possible to keep them in the same room, obviously not letting them physically meet? It may not be practical for me to put the new guy in another room because of housemates.

Thanks

In an ideal world 2 seperate premises would be best...this is how i do it with my snakes but majority of the people cant do this so just make sure you wash hands between the 2 snakes, different feeding tongs for each snake, dont wash water bowls together and so on and you should be ok

I would suggest at least two different rooms, some airborne conditions and mites will easily spread if they are kept in the same room.
Here you go:

It is really all down to what you are quarantining for TBH. Many of the more serious ailnments can be carried with no outward symptoms for many months and even years in some cases. So quaratining for 6 months really doesn't tell you much.

Personally my own quarantine pretty much consists of the following:-

If its bought from someone I really trust, then to be honest I don't bother.

If its from someone I don;t know, its treated for mites as a matter of course. Before I have even paid for it I will have checked for any outward signs of illness and checked inside the mouth for mouth rot, mucus build up etc etc. If it wasn't all clear, then I would be looking at a hefty price reduction, or I would be walking away.

Obviously if I found soemthing and continued with the purches I would have strict quarantine in a seperate room until it was cured.

If everything was all clear, then I would keep it seperate for about 4 - 6 weeks, to make sure there were no mites, if everything was still good then I would take it out of quarantine.

Saying oh yeah you must quarantine for 6 months to a year is all very well and good for those who have the room, but the question is what exactly are they quaratining for?
