Default !!!Deposit paid for Jungle jag carpet!!!

Hi everyone,

I've just put a deposit down on an 09 75% Jungle Jaguar CP. He fed this morning so didn't want stress him out bringing him home. I'll pick him up on Friday
I have read a few care sheets but wanted to ask you guys and gals a few things.... if that is ok.

Would he be ok in a faun for a while? or should I get him a small viv until he needs a bigger one? (he's only small at the minute).

Some care sheets say use heat mats and some say bulbs.. what do you guys find works best for your CP's? The guy in the rep shop puts heat mats on the bottom of the viv and sticks one to the roof as well.

Looking forward to bringing him home
Cheers Brads

if he's small he'll be fine in a faunarium or RUB for a while. I use 9l rubs at first. A heat mat is fine. Put it under the RUB and attach the thermostat probe to the heat mat. Use a thermometer inside the rub to get the thermostat setting right.
You could use a viv if you choose. Carpets are fairly confident snakes and not usually put off by open spaces in the way that a royal might be.
google for anthony caponetto for some good caresheets.

Yeah cheers mate, I;ve read that care sheet, seems a good one. Pretty much the same set as my royal and corn but with a perch and extra branches. Can't wait till friday. I've handled him a few times and has tagged me loads... nearly caught my chin the other day Hopefully he'll tame down.

They usually calm down. Mine took 6 weeks to allow me to take it out and put it back without a bite, and about 3 months to become laid back.

We need pics of course

I'll hopefully pick him up on Friday, feed him and let him settle in for a week. Then I'll take some pictures.

Awww congrats. Look forward to seeing piccies once it's home and settled.
Mine was very bitey as a baby, but after a few months he's now much more relaxed and less defensive... unless you touch him too far up his body without gradually working your way up. He also bites the camera occasionally... Buggy no like the flashy!
All you'll need is to start off by familiarising yourself with him as you would any other snake (and several large meals... they have big appetites!) by changing his water every day to let him get used to your smell. Don't be shocked if you're calmly changing the bowl or removing poop and you suddenly see a little blue-black mouth come shooting out of a hide or a clump of fake plants. Hehe... those adorable little silver eyes are always watching!
