Default R.U.B. is this too big too soon.

I have gotten hold of a 84 litre R.U.B. 26 inches long X 17 inches wide X 14 inches high.
In cm thats 66 X 43 X 35 cm.
I am planning on drilling it out and using it to house my cornsnake in until I get him a proper viv.
He is 7 months old and growing well. Is he too small/young to be moved into this larger container?
He is currently living in a faurarium.
I would be putting plenty of hides in there. Also some branches for him to climb about on.
What are your thoughts on this idea?

Try it out, it could be fine and you could always move him back if he stops eating etc.

Yes I would say that is way too big to soon, a 7 month old corn should IMO be in a 8-9 ltr RUB.

I think the bigger the better with all species if you kit it out well enough.

Default thanks

Thanks everyone for those replies.
I will drill the R.U.B. up and get all the hides etc ready, and then try him in in it in a couple of months time to see how he goes.
My feeling is that if he has enough places to hide it wont freak him out too much. (how do they cope in the wild?).
He does seem to be an active and inquisitive snake, always out and about in the evenings.
I will post up any findings for future reference.

Not at all I'm, afraid. Most snakes are somewhat agoraphobic and become easily stressed if kept in too large an enclosure. Before you go down the route of "in the wild snakes have all the space they want" you need to consider the fcat that they will usually be found in small, tight fitting spaces and don't usually travel very far.
