get a warm wet piece of cotton wool and gently wipe over eye. carry on doing this 3 - 4 times a day and it should soon come off. it depend on what you mean by gooey. do you mean infection gooey or just like clear goo?

Redness - my guess would be shedease possibly getting under it and irritating the eye, if its jsut one eyecap id just stop playing about with it and leave it and raise humidity to ensure a perfect shed next time and it should come off with the next shed.

what i've found is a sweat box, "hide full of spagnum". can help hydrate and cause friction against the eye cap and help get it off. any snakes that i've had with this problem have been sorted using that method, normally with a 95% successess rate.

I've never had to try it myself but my friend and yours the 'ViperKeeper' uses a small piece of tape to remove eye-caps.

I don't know if I'd have the balls to actually use that method on my own snakes though!

I've done this myself, but only after soaking the snake in shallow warmish water (warm to the touch).
