On Saturday Gecko Steve (a fellow Leicester reptile member) and I took a reptile shop road trip and had a great day.
We visited Wharf Aquatics in Nottingham first, and we were very impressed with Craig and Shaun, whom we met and spent time with during our visit. They had some lovely reptiles, including a Giant Madagascan hognose that Shaun got out for me to handle; it was a good six feet and very girthy, and truly wonderful to see. We also got to see Argus reed frogs, which to be honest I had never even heard of, which Craig was taking home with him. Shaun was very impressive catching these swift little things, and I enjoyed helping by holding the cricket boxes for them to go in to, very cool! ![]() We then went on to Manchester Pets, and again we were very impressed. We met Lefty and Dominic, and also the manager, whose name has escaped my pain killer fuzzed head (hurt my neck and shoulder, husband is loving having to sort the snakes out, not) and they were really really friendly and eager to show off the shop! Lefty spent a good half hour with us both showing us changes that had been made and pointing out the less commonly seen reptiles found in pet shops. We saw a beautiful rough Green Snake, and as an added bonus the eggs she had laid that morning!! We also saw a very attitude-y trinket baby, which flattened itself out and menaced at us, sooooo sweet! When Lefty had to leave, Dominic took over and took us round the lizards, showing us gargoyle and crestie babies, and some unusual (to me) skinks. Dominic was really interesting to talk to, and had a brilliant attitude towards the business. We did see on little lizard (no idea sorry) that looked a bit under the weather and within seconds Dominic had whipped it off of the shop floor and downstairs ready for a vet visit, which impressed me no end. I absolutely fell in love with the True Indian Python, and may have to go back and get it!!!! ![]() After Manchester Pets we took a drive up the road to Viper and Vine, and saw some baby puff adders, a first for us both and we were very excited to see them! They also had some caimans which had a fantastic set up under the main shop counter. Oh and some stunning Uromastyx, and some quirky looking Berber skinks, which the chap (didn’t catch his name, biker/rocker looking chap, extremely nice,) told us all about when I asked. We were impressed by this shop too, and I could have spent all day there just chatting and checking out the lovely boas and the gorgeous little yellow annie! ![]() After Viper and Vine my neck and shoulder were starting to get the better of me so we headed back to Leicester and ended our day with a cuppa with Dave at scale and tails, were i got to see more crestie babies as tara wasw sorting them out, all in all a wonderful day. Thanks for driving and your company Steve! Thanks for reading ![]()

![]() We did, very good day, even worth the pain of being on the road, every bump was torture, but the reptiles made up for it. Oh and if you are wondering how I got hurt, a stupid, built like a tank, dunken, agro chavvy bimbo fell into me in a nightclub, knocked me flying and managed to bruise my spine!!!!! I hope where ever she is she is in just as much pain! ![]()

oh yes, in time I will,
Have told Hubby that if the Soloman island ground boa is still at scales and tails in december (thats when i'll have a spare viv, probably won't be still there, but might be, cos been there over six months already) then it is mine and he has agreed! ![]() ![]()
