ssshhh....dont tell anyone!

OP....do the king snakes appeal, lots of colours, patterns and stay a manageable size....not able to co-habit tho or you will end up with one huge snake not two smaller ones

What about a Rough Green? It's my second favorite animal I own.

Mine is always out hunting in the day, though I do not keep it in a room where there are people often so I do not know how it would deal with movement & noise all day. Saying the main thing that came out in a thread I created a while ago about them that you can have big problems with WC specimens. Also I don't know how bothered you are about handling but all mine does is thrash about if you try & hold it... so I don't.

how big an enclosure do you need for one adult rough green? surely if you handled it form birth they could be quite tame?

Carpet Python.

Mine are out most of the time, are stunning to look at and very active. None of mine have ever been nippy, you just need to understand them and take care not to frighten them, which you should apply to any snake.

Easy to care for and make good use of any space you give them. They appreciate perches, hides, substrate to dig in, water to bathe in... so pretty much anything you do for them to give them a bit of enrichment.

Prices depend on sub-species, but generally start at around £60 and upwards for a baby, though if you're looking for a bolder snake, I would go for something around 12-months old+.

A couple of recent ads I found in the South East just to give you an idea:

08 Female Carpet Python - £80
09 Male High Yellow Jungle Carpet Python - £120
10 Male High Yellow Jungle Carpet Python - £80
10 High Yellow Jungle Carpet Pythons - £100 each / £190 pair

The Amazon Tree Boas are stunning snakes and again I personally think they have an undeserved reputation for being aggressive. Stunning display snake, but mine chooses to hide all day, so there's an empty enclosure to look at most of the time. She is ok to handle, but it's very obvious that she would much rather be back in her enclosure. I only have one for reference, so other people might be able to tell you different.

Again, a couple of ads I found in the South East:

06 Garden Phase ATB - £80
07 Garden Phase ATB - £100 pair

You'll have to show us pics when you've made your lovely enclosure!

You can't really handle them when they are young as they are so small & fragile, when it thrashes about I fell like it is going to snap at any moment.

I have no idea as adults mate, or even if it is just my one that is like this, I am afraid I have only kept this one so can only give you my experiences on that... but I know Boiga do not tame with age, or if it is then it is very likely to be in less than 100% health, so I can't see it 'surely' taming if you handle it regularly as young... perhaps they do though.
