Seems to me that a vet would know better than a bunch of amatuer keepers that can only at best guess as to what it could be.

The snake is under the care of a vet, the OP knows what it is and it is being treated (Just found her thread on another forum which explains better after I made my guess).
This is more an informative post to see if people can spot the issue and what the likely cause of treament is. And also if this was ever to occur in a hatchling they had. Sharing the knowledge of both the good and the bad times and all that.

EDIT - My word you lot type fast these days. lol

if it was wild id say a parasite, there's a nasty one that loves eyes, sick littler fecker it is. a couple of possibility's, the little tube that drains is either blocked, malformed or missing, or the eye is faulty and this is the outward appearance, i doubt very much an in egg infection type situation, that's virtually unheard of though eyes like that aren't, so my guess a malformation of the eye itself or the structures that support the eye, its not life threatening if treated though which is good, most often the eye is removed if it isn't obvious what the cause is.

rgds and i wish the little one the best of luck

I thought that to begin with then looked a little closer at the eye area...... and to me it looks more like an abscess is causing the distension of the eye ball.

i am may well be way off the mark though.

I am sorry but I did read the thread just like I did on another forum and I really don't see the point of asking a bunch of amatuers to guess at a prognosis or cure.

I think it went ten rounds with Mike Tyson would have been a better answer no doubt.

i find you pretty rude to be honest! because we are not vets we are just "a bunch of amatuers".....you have quite a way with words haven`t you....its just a bit of an informative/fun thread....if it had not have said that the snake was already undergoing veterinary treatment then i am sure everyone would have said to get it to a reptile vets ASAP!

Because that bunch of amatuers have clocked up thousands, if not millions of hours of reptile keeping experience between them and probably jointly know more than most vets out there.
Also because that bunch of amatuers learn from things like this so that when it happens to one of their animals they know what needs to be done.
